About us

The operation of the mine was started in 1938 with withdrawal of marble for the paper industry in Norway and Sweden. The family operated in the early nineteenth century with the extraction of marble blocks for the Cellulose industry. In June 1968 they started delivering marble to Hustadkalk. Since January 2, 1987, only the tunnel operation has been conducted and has become the system that today has 40 km of mining in a total of 11 floors.

A few years ago, Einar Naas started the thought on the idea of opening some of the mountain to culture and tourism. The road was short from planning to execution. Most of it was executed by us at our spare time. Bergtatt is operated by the Naas family and is constantly evolving. We are approaching 15,000 visitors and we have visits from all around the world.

Our goal is to give our visitors an unforgettable magical experience and give the mining industry a better reputation.
